This match offered a platform for some of Palace's lesser-used talent to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning after arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a well-taken finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a second, finding the net for the second consecutive match.

After the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest several individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, only to see his effort blocked.
The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also missed a glaring chance, indicating there is still scope for development in his game.
A solitary worry for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect evening for the visiting side.
